The Information Governance Challenge

We know that organisations want to provide their users with simple and easy access to all corporate content, irrespective of where it is. In most enterprises, content resides in multiple repositories that are deployed within multiple departments and business units. This scattered state of affairs precludes users from having a 360 degree view of corporate information and prevents organisations from realising the full potential of their content.

Companies have to manage tough demands in compliance and regulation laws. These requirements come from a diverse range of industry and government sources. Global organisations face the added complexity of compliance requirements from local governments who have their own regulations and laws that apply to businesses that operate within their jurisdictions.

Urgency is growing within the enterprise to gain control of this dynamic content and more specifically to provide users with simple and rapid access to information in all corporate repositories. At the same time providing internal transparency by weaving Information Governance capabilities into the fabric of the content infrastructure is a key demand.

UK law

In the UK governing bodies like the FSA have the authority to prosecute and fine company executives and directors for failing to comply with set regulations. A number of high profile UK companies have faced fines in excess of £1 million as a result of compliance misconduct. A city law firm reported (8th June 2009) that fines handed out by the FSA had risen by 514% in the 2008/09 financial year.*

RSD GLASS

RSD GLASS© allows organisations to get a significant head start in their efforts to implement an Enterprise Information Governance solution and a well charted path for that solution. RSD GLASS© is a scalable Information Governance solution addressing two core requirements;

Content Integration Layer: provides users (and various applications) with simple and rapid access (through a SOA interface) to content in all corporate repositories.

Integrated Information Governance Component: provides internal transparency through a central Information Governance component that allows compliance policies (retention and disposition, electronic discovery, etc.) to be managed and applied to content in a federated model. It features a centralised and rich metadata repository to manage the Information Governance metadata, be it structured indexes or content indexes.
